What each line means
Printed size — print at exactly 35 × 45 mm. A few millimetres off and most offices hand the form back before anything else is checked.
Digital size — the digital file must measure 827 × 1063 px. Anything smaller gets refused by many online systems before a person sees it.
Head height — your head, crown to chin, should span 70-80% of photo height (face). Too small reads distant; too large and the crop will not fit.
Background — a plain Uniformly light background, with no shadows or gradients. A wall lit unevenly is the fastest route to a refusal.
Resolution — 600 dpi keeps a face sharp in print. Below that, features soften and agencies ask for a retake.
Recency — Within 6 months. Hair, glasses and weight change faster than people assume, and the officer compares the photo with you at the counter.
Glasses / expression — glare on lenses hides the eyes, and hidden eyes are an automatic rejection in most systems. If you wear glasses, read this line twice.
Digital format — some portals accept a single file type and quietly refuse everything else. Check what you are handing over before you upload.

The Polish passport photo is 35×45 mm on a uniformly light background, and the official proportion is 70-80% of the photo height, measured as the face from chin to forehead. Italy uses the same forehead-line measurement. Most of the continent measures to the crown.

Why Poland Passport Photo gets rejected
The proportion band
The 70-80% band is the measurement the offices work from: the face, chin to forehead, within the frame's height. A head too small drops under the band, and a face cropped at the hairline lands outside it.
Lens faults
Dark and tinted lenses are refused outright. Clear frames pass only while both eyes stay fully visible, with no glare on the glass.
The ordinary faults
Creased prints, wall shadows, retouching that shows, and a smile wide enough to change the face are everyday failures that a correct format does not excuse.
