Nigeria passport photo pixel requirements

Nigeria's passport photo rule requires at least 600×800 px, a white background, nothing obscuring the face, moderate lighting, and a neutral expression with both eyes open and the mouth closed. No millimetre band is published.

Definitions of the photo rules

The behaviour rules define terms that have no exact measurement. Moderate lighting means frontal and even. Nothing obscuring means no hat, no tinted glasses, and hair off the face. The neutral expression is specified for each eye.

Visa photo size

The visa route asks for recent passport-size photos and nothing more precise, which uses the standard 35×45 mm rectangle. The passport's pixel minimum is the more demanding part of the Nigerian set.

Files below the pixel minimum

A file smaller than 600×800 px fails before the face is read. The check is mechanical, and a good expression does not rescue a small file.

Photo behaviour faults

Eyes half-closed, mouth open, a cap brim shading the brow, and tinted lenses each contradict a written clause and are judged on sight.

Background and retouching

Shadows and gradients fail the white background. Retouched files also fail; the passport route names retouching as forbidden.
