One upload, two deliveries: the pixel-exact digital file and a 300 dpi print-ready sheet.
What each line means
Printed size — print at exactly 40 × 60 mm. A few millimetres off and most offices hand the form back before anything else is checked.
Digital size — the digital file must measure 472 × 709 px. Anything smaller gets refused by many online systems before a person sees it.
Background — a plain White background, with no shadows or gradients. A wall lit unevenly is the fastest route to a refusal.
Resolution — 300 dpi keeps a face sharp in print. Below that, features soften and agencies ask for a retake.

How to take a Vietnam Visa Photo with your phone
Vietnam visa photo size
The Vietnam visa photo standard is a 40×60 mm portrait on white, taller than wide. Older guides describe the 51×51 mm square used in embassy-era practice. The official application form settled on the portrait, and a square crop cannot be stretched into it without distorting the face.
The e-Visa file
The e-Visa channel takes a JPG or JPEG under 2 MB on the same 40×60 mm portrait, and the paper side prints the same rectangle at 300 dpi. One framed shot serves both.
Setup and lighting
Face a plain wall at half a metre, phone at eye level, leave space above the hair; the exact frame is cut downstream. Use even frontal light, a neutral expression and no headwear; glasses off, and the face straight to the camera.
What this page outputs
The tool crops to the exact 40×60 mm rectangle at 300 dpi, flattens the background to pure white, and checks ratio and background before download.
Why Vietnam Visa Photo gets rejected
Square photos
Old guides still describe the 51×51 mm square, and photos prepared as squares fail on shape alone. Shoot portrait from the start.
Background faults
Off-white walls, shadows, gradients, off-centre faces. The plain-background rule reads the same as everywhere.
Filters, glare and blur
Heavy filters, glare on glasses, blur. No spec sheet lists reflections or a tilted chin in millimetres. Both still send the photo back.

Photo tips
Frequently asked questions
What size is a Vietnam Visa Photo?
The standard size is 40 × 60 mm (472 × 709 px at 300 DPI). The tool crops and scales your photo to exact requirements automatically.
Can I smile in the photo?
Requirements call for: a natural expression. When in doubt, keep a neutral face with both eyes open.
How recent must the photo be?
Old photos are a common rejection reason.
Is my photo private?
Yes. Uploaded photos are encrypted in transit and automatically deleted within 24 hours. We never share or resell uploads.
Is the Vietnam visa photo the same size as the US photo?
Not anymore. The current standard is a 40×60 mm portrait on white; the 51×51 mm square was the earlier practice and matched the US format, but it no longer applies. This preset crops to the exact portrait.
What about the Vietnam e-Visa upload?
The e-Visa channel takes a 40×60 mm portrait file under 2 MB — a separate preset on this site; the paper route prints the same 40×60 mm portrait at 300 dpi.
